1. Data collection and data use
1.1 Basic information
a. You can view all areas of the Plant-for-the-Planet Portal that are not password-protected without disclosing your identity to Plant-for-the-Planet. You are only required to provide personal data if you register as a user, subscribe to the newsletter, make a donation, become a supporting member or fill in any other form.
b. Data (e.g. your IP address, the date and time and the pages you have viewed) are saved on the Plant-for-the-Planet servers when you access the Plant-for-the-Planet Portal. The data is only used for statistical purposes, to ensure the security of the system (e.g. to identify attacks against Plant-for-the-Planet servers) and to track abuse of the Plant-for-the-Planet Portal.
c. Personal data is collected and processed for the purpose of operating the Plant-for-the-Planet Portal.
d. Your data will only be used for other purposes with your express consent. If you have given such consent, you may revoke your consent at any time by simply informing Plant-for-the-Planet (email, fax, letter; see section 7 for contact details). Revocation shall have effect for the future.
1.2 Information provided during registration
If you participate in the area of the Plant-for-the-Planet Portal that is password-protected and create entries (e.g. upload photos and reports, make comments on articles, write in the guestbook or participate in discussion forums) or want to contact other users, you must register as a user. You must also register to receive the Plant-for-the-Planet newsletter, to found a Plant-for-the-Planet club or to register your support by becoming a supporting member or by making any other contribution.
a. You must provide the following information to receive the newsletter:
- first name,
- email address
- and your preferred language for the newsletter
b. When you register an event, you must enter the following information on the event form:
- first name,
- email address,
- and the details of the event itself
c. When registering as a supporting member, donating a tree or making any other donation, you must enter the following information::
- first name,
- date of birth
- email address and payment details
d. When registering a Plant-for-the-Planet club, you must enter the following information:
- information about the club coordinator,
- email address,
- first name,
- date of birth,
- information about the club,
- club name,
- and the location and date of the meeting
This information is used to stop anyone registering with a false identity and to prevent spam entries and fraudulent behaviour. The information is transferred to Plant-for-the-Planet and saved. The date of registration is saved with the information.
1.5 Visibility of your data
Data is only published in the two following cases:
When an event you have registered is published, the location of the event and the contact information provided by the organiser are also published. In the case of clubs, the location of the club and the club coordinator's contact information are also published. The names of the members are not published.
2. Access to data
Plant-for-the-Planet saves personal data in an encrypted database. Only an authorised list of employees has access to the database to perform certain tasks. All Plant-for-the-Planet employees and their agents have a duty of confidentiality under Section 5 of the German Federal Data Protection Act.
3. Transfer of data to third parties
3.2 Plant-for-the-Planet does not transfer personal data to third parties without your express consent.
3.3 Personal data is transferred without your consent in the following cases:
a. Disclosure to state institutions and authorities where required by law, in particular at the request of a competent public authority.
b. Transfer to a third party, if and to the extent that the third party can prove that its rights have been infringed by the content submitted by you on the Plant-for-the-Planet Portal and that the disclosure of personal data is necessary for prosecution.
5. Social Plugins
Our website uses Social Plugins ("Plugins") from the facebook.com social network, which is operated by Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA ("Facebook"). The Plugins are displayed with a Facebook logo or the tag "Facebook Social Plugin".
If you open a page on our website that includes a Plugin, your browser establishes a direct connection with the Facebook servers. The content of the Plugin is transferred by Facebook directly to your browser and integrated by the browser into the page.
By integrating Plugins, Facebook is informed that you have viewed the corresponding page on our website. If you are logged into Facebook, Facebook can display your visit to our website on your Facebook account. If you interact with the Plugins, for example by clicking the "Like" button or adding a comment, that information is transferred by your browser directly to Facebook and saved by Facebook.
Please see Facebook's Data Use Policy for the purpose and scope of data collection and further processing and use of your data by Facebook, as well as your rights in this regard and the settings you can use to protect your privacy.
If you do not want Facebook to collect data about you via our website, you must first log out of Facebook before visiting our website.
6. Provision of information
6.1 You have the right to information from Plant-for-the-Planet regarding the personal data saved about you.
6.2 You must send your request to Plant-for-the-Planet (see section 7 for contact details). Your request must demonstrate that you are the person about whom you are requesting information (e.g. by sending an email from the address you provided during registration).
6.3 The information is provided by us by email, unless you ask for written information or if a different format is reasonable in special circumstances.
7. Correction, erasure and blocking of data
7.1 You have the right to request at any time that inaccurate personal data that has been saved about you by Plant-for-the-Planet is corrected. However, the simplest method would be to change the entries yourself, e.g. in your profile.
7.2 If you do request that your personal data is changed, corrected or erased, you may make your request in a simple message (email, fax or letter; see section 7 for contact details).
7.3 Plant-for-the-Planet would like to remind you that even deleted data may still be accessible under some circumstances for a further 24 hours because of caching systems and intermediate proxy servers. Search engine indexes may also contain obsolete data for a period that is not known to Plant-for-the-Planet and may provide some indication of the deleted data.
8. Data controller
8.1The data controller for the collection, processing and use of users' personal data is the Plant-for-the-Planet Foundation, Am Bahnhof 1, 82449 Uffing am Staffelsee, Germany.
