Video Journalist



Plant-for-the-Planet is a global organization advocating for large-scale restoration around the world and is the pioneer of the Trillion Tree Campaign. You are an experienced video journalist in Yucatán and you are worried about the climate crisis? Then join us! Don’t hesitate and apply for full-time Video Journalist at Plant-for-the-Planet located in Constitución, Campeche, Mexico to start as soon as possible.

TASKS

On our restoration sites on the Yucatán-peninsula you produce autonomously short clips for our channels and platforms. Very happy also in front of the camera. The aim is to keep our donors updated and in touch with their planted trees. That means that you are responsible for filming, interviewing and editing as well as adding music to the clip. Furthermore you don’t wait in order to be instructed for new films because you are not only experienced in identifying new stories  but you are fired up for them!

  • Create at least two content pieces a week (mostly short clips about 2 – 3 minutes)
  • The camera equipment is almost your baby – you keep it, you clean it so that it is always in good condition and ready for use.
  • Engage with Plant-for-the-Planet community, restoration organizations, partners and other stakeholders to create content and stories from different perspectives on why ecosystem restoration is important to tackle the climate crisis.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

  • 2 years experience filming, making interviews and editing 
  • You are experienced in handling a semi-professional video camera like Canon C300
  • You are experienced in creating precise natural sounds as it is necessary in interviews on location.You are experienced in editing short reports for online or television 
  • You are a Social Media expert, you are familiar with the latest trends and you know how to increase the number of followers.
  • You have a deep interest in International Relations, Political Studies, Ecology, Climate or related fields with passion for filming and telling stories.
  • You are deeply worried about climate crisis and deforestation in Mexiko
  • You can express yourself in English
  • You are able to meet short deadlines, work in a fast-paced environment, and coordinate with various teams, departments, and divisions.
  • And you have the readiness to move to a place where jaguars live to tackle the climate crisis.

NICE TO HAVE

  • You have first experiences in flying a camera drone
  • You want also to go in front of the camera
  • Knowledge of other languages like German, Spanish or French.
