Yucatán Reforestation Project

In 2015, we started the reforestation project near the village of Constitución on Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula. From 2015 to 2020, we planted six million trees with your donations.

To give you a feel for our work, here are the daily work reports of our planters, the delivery notes that accompany the seedlings from the nursery to our planting areas, our staff, some of whom have been with us since the first tree, our buildings and machinery and an overview of further costs. I will be happy to answer your questions! We thank you for your trust.

Yours,
Dr. Raúl Negrete Cetina

The Yucatan Peninsula has an extended dry season in the first half of the year and a rainy season in the second half. During the dry season we prepare the land and maintain the trees that have already been planted. During the rainy season, we then concentrate on planting trees, though of course some maintenance and preparatory work continues.

We usually work in two-week cycles; 10 working days and one long weekend. This gives everyone the opportunity to visit their family, even if our colleague lives further away.
A new reporting system was implemented as of 1 July 2021. Thereafter, daily reports are submitted directly by team leads and staff counts now only include staff involved directly in planting and maintenance (and not the kitchen, logistics, management and other support staff). As of July 2021, we have expanded our data collection to include the TreeMapper app. Daily plantings are shown here.

2022

All trees planted in 2021 and 2022 are mapped daily. See where we planted which tree species for each day.

We planted the first tree on 8 March 2015 and 6,332,664 trees by the end of 2020, but it was only from 1 Jan 2016 that we started recording our work in this type of report.
