On March 14, 35 new Climate Justice Ambassadors emerged!
We began with the presentation by Kayllane, an Ambassador who stood out for her proactivity and domination of the subject. She performed alone that day, as the other ambassador she had previously spoke to couldn´t attend. That day, Matheus, from Salvador's Municipal Secretariat of Education (SMED), who accompanied us throughout the development of the academy, also attended.
At the end of the presentation, we pointed out to the children what our day would be like. To motivate and cheer everyone up, we made a dynamic called “Plant Seed”, an adaptation of “Living Dead”, the children engaged in the play and were inspired. for the second part of the day, the game of the world. We divided the children into groups, each volunteer was responsible for groups of 8 to 10 children. At the end of the game we had a quick rhetoric training where the initial goal was to make them feel comfortable talking to other people, which was very productive because it facilitated the development of the second part.
By noon, all the children had already played the World Game and done the initial rhetoric training, so we left for lunch.
Soon after, we started the Project-Creation stage to encourage individual development.
Just before we started the presentations of the projects, we welcomed the representative of the Secretary of the Municipal Secretariat of Sustainability, Innovation and Resilience (SECIS) of Salvador, André Fraga, who accompanied the presentation of solutions found by students. In this Academy, we got a wide range of ideas, the teams brought from suggestions of activities that can save the world and changes that can be made in our own homes, for example YouTube channels that can influence people to understand the importance of taking care of the environment.
At the end of the presentations, Secretary André Fraga spoke a little about how well the projects were designed and also thanked and encouraged the children's participation in this project. Principal Cristina da Mata took advantage and stressed the importance of what the children were doing, talked about what the school was already doing about environmental care and said it would help the children to develop the projects.
We ended the day with a photo and said goodbye to the children with hugs and reminded them about the planting, which would be held on March 21, highlighting what preparation they should have. On that day we met at the school at the agreed time, on this day we could count on 3 volunteers and the special presence of Evelin, one of the directors of Plant for the Planet.
At the first moment upon arriving at school, we reviewed and made recommendations on how the planting would take place. In this school we planted 15 trees of native species of the Atlantic Forest.
After the planting was done, the children pledged to take care of the trees planted there, we took pictures to remember this day and said goodbye and thank you!
