It all started with nine-year-old Felix Finkbeiner from Germany in 2009. He has been inspired by Wangari Maathai. The late Nobel Peace Prize Luareate planted 30 million trees in Africa within 30 years and launched the Billion Tree Campaign together with HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco.
At the end of his school presentation about the current climate crisis, Felix announced his vision to his classmates:
Children could plant one million trees in every country on the earth and thereby offset CO2 emissions all on their own, while adults are still talking about doing it.
Just three years later, the children planted the millionth tree in Germany!
In 2011, Felix was invited by the United Nations to speak in the UN General Assembly. He urged the delegates to fight against the climate crisis not by talking, but through concrete actions.
More than 63,000 children became Climate Justice Ambassadors. These are children aged between eight and fourteen. During Academies (one-day-workshops), they share their knowledge about the climate crisis with other children and empower them to give speeches about the climate crisis. Again and again, a new generation of Climate Justice Ambassadors is ready to spread the message.
Plant-for-the-Planet encourages as many children as possible to fight for their future.
Now, we want to plant one trillion trees worldwide.
With your support, we can achieve our goals:
Plant 1,000 billion (1 Trillion) trees worldwide, that's just 150 trees per person
Motivate 1 Million children to become Climate Justice Ambassadors
