Welcome to the Plant-for-the-Planet Youth Summit 2024! This year we are focusing on climate justice and building resilience through networks.
Join us in the dynamic city of Berlin, Germany, from October 30th to November 3rd, 2024, as we gather young leaders from around the world to address the urgent issues of climate justice and resilience-building through networks. Our goal is to foster collaboration and empower youth to take meaningful action in the fight against climate change.
In the beginning of 2024, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) confirmed that 2023 was the warmest year since weather records began. On average, the global temperature was 1.45° Celsius above pre-industrial levels. This shows that governments across the globe are far behind their promises to cut emissions in order to cap global temperature rise at 1.5°C as established by the Paris agreement. At the same time after many years of youth-led climate justice protests and activism by grassroot movements like Fridays for Futures the question arises about the future strategic directions to fight the climate crisis. How can we leverage our connections to amplify our impact and drive urgent, positive change? This is the central question that will guide our discussions at the Plant-for-the-Planet Youth Summit.
This year’s summit will feature a range of engaging activities designed to facilitate networking, skills development, and collaborative problem-solving, including:
- Inspiring panel discussions and keynote speeches by experts in climate justice, resilience-building, and networking.
- Interactive workshops aimed at equipping participants with the tools and knowledge to implement impactful actions driving change.
- Networking sessions to connect with fellow youth activists and leaders from diverse backgrounds and regions.
- Creative working groups focused on developing innovative solutions to climate challenges through collaborative networks.
But the excitement doesn’t stop there! As we gather in Berlin, we will not only discuss the importance of networks but also put our ideas into action. Together, we will develop concrete plans and initiatives to advance climate justice and resilience-building efforts in our communities and beyond.
We aim for a balanced group of Plant-for-the-Planet climate justice ambassadors and interested activists between 16 and 28 years from all over the world.
