Intern International Management Team

Plant-for-the-Planet is a global network for the restoration and protection of forests and the fight for climate justice. We empower children and youth, restore forest ecosystems, conduct research and provide free software tools and advice to restoration organizations around the world.

We are looking for an intern for 8 to 12 weeks in the International Management Team of the Plant-for-the-Planet Foundation (part-time possible).

The intern will support our team International Management at the Plant-for-the-Planet Foundation with offices in Tutzing (Bavaria) and Hamburg. The International Management Team is responsible for the coordination of the International Network of Plant-for-the-Planet entities (non-profits with a shared purpose), ensures capacity-building of the entities and is responsible for global strategic and communication alignment. You will be working with a small team with straightforward and short decision-making and coordination processes.

The internship can cover one or multiple focus areas: project / event management (area 1), network development (area 2) and communications (area 3). The intern is expected to complete tasks in various areas, depending on the current focus of the team.

These will be your tasks:
Depending on the identified area of work, multiple smaller projects will be assigned to the intern for completion over the duration of the internship. The intern will have the opportunity to work on the projects assigned under the guidance of the members of the International Management team, but with independence and trust. Support is provided and regular check-in meetings can be arranged to guide the intern.

Area 1: Project / event management

  • Support with the organization and follow-up of events – from planning to evaluation.
  • Participant management (e.g. support with bookings, travel arrangements)
  • Development of a participant guidebook.

Area 2: Network development

  • Ensuring official governance documents are complete and up-to-date
  • Preparing reports for authorities
  • Development of concept papers and project proposals
  • Creating solutions and materials for managing (and collaboration within) the International Network of Plant-for-the-Planet entities

Area 3: Communications

  • Preparing and sending internal update mailings
  • Organizing Video Conferences between the Plant-for-the-Planet organizations in different countries
  • Completing mailings for International Management stakeholders
  • Preparing blogposts

What you bring:

Required:

  • Strong interest in topics of youth and community empowerment, ecosystem
    restoration and climate justice issues
  • You are above 18 years of age
  • Strong English (written and spoken) is a must, other languages are also welcomed (German, Spanish, Czech, Italian, Portuguese, French, etc.) – however not required

Preferred:

  • Experience working independently but under guidance of a team lead
  • Experience in communications, legal or business administration/ management background
