Sagar Aryal is the Chief Technology Officer at Plant-for-the-Planet. He leads the organization’s digital strategy, including the development of its platforms and apps, the automation of core internal processes, and the digitalization of technical workflows that support global forest restoration and conservation.

Active in environmental and civic work since 2006, Sagar has spent nearly two decades working at the intersection of technology, policy, and environmental finance. He holds a Master’s degree in International Economics, and International Politics.

Alongside his role at Plant-for-the-Planet, he serves as Head of Delegation for Global North civil society organizations in the ninth replenishment of the Global Environment Facility, the world’s largest multilateral fund for Biodiversity and International Waters. He is also a primary representative to the GEF Civil Society Network.

His work focuses on ensuring that civil society plays a meaningful role in shaping global climate and biodiversity funding, while building digital tools that strengthen transparency, project monitoring, and inclusive participation.
