Empowerment Coordinator (f/m/d)

Call for Applications in Germany: Empowerment Coordinator

Help build a generation rising, and a system that empowers them.

Plant-for-the-Planet is a global network for the restoration and protection of forests and the fight for climate justice. We empower children and young people, restore forest ecosystems, conduct research and provide free software tools and advice to restoration organizations around the world.

We’re looking for passionate, reliable, creative doers to become Plant-for-the-Planet Empowerment Coordinators in Germany. This is not a passive role — it’s for people who are ready to build a system, not just run programs. You’ll help create the spaces where young people can find their voice, grow their power, and stay active for the long haul. That means taking ownership, testing new ideas, learning fast, and shaping something that lasts.

You’ll be part of Plant-for-the-Planet’s growing European network, where children become Climate Justice Ambassadors, local groups grow into movements, and Coordinators like you turn ideas into action.

Your Mission

This role is hands-on. As a Coordinator, you’ll be laying the groundwork for a national or regional empowerment system from the ground up. You’ll be backed by a national Cluster Head or the Foundation, practical toolkits, and a growing ecosystem of others doing the same work across borders.

That means

  • Setting up new partnerships, especially with schools, youth organizations, and local governments who want to host workshops or support youth engagement
  • Recruiting and supporting Mentors — finding 3-5 passionate volunteers who help you run local youth groups and guide young Ambassadors in their area
  • Launching your own local group, then growing them to 5–10 over the years with a team of volunteers (Mentors), ensuring they’re active, supported, and visible
  • Organizing public activities like academies (one-two per year), school workshops, planting events, campaign days, or local speaking engagements
  • Helping kids build their own initiatives — and celebrating their success through storytelling, media, and events
  • Representing the movement in meetings or coalitions with youth, educators, or activists in your country
  • Joining our global Coordinator Network to share tools, solve problems, and scale smart ideas
  • Accompanying youth to regional or national events like Children’s Conferences and Youth Summits (context based)

Your Profile

This role is designed for someone with a strong motivation and an open mind.
You might be:

  • An organizer, educator, or young movement builder
  • A community connector with experience mentoring others
  • A self-starter who’s launched something before
  • Someone who’s worked with youth, schools, or in civic campaigns

You are

  • Reliable, grounded, and energized by working with young people
  • Strategic — but never afraid to roll up your sleeves
  • Committed to justice, participation, and action that lasts
  • Fluent in German and ideally with a solid level of English to be able to participate in international activities and exchange

Time and Committment

  • 5–10 hrs/week (flexible, depending on season & context)
  • At least 1-year commitment (long term commitment appreciated)
  • You can combine this with other work, studies, or freelance gigs

What we offer

  • A starter kit with tools, formats, onboarding materials
  • A freelance-style stipend and local activity allowance
  • Trainings to build on your skills incl. mandatory safeguarding certification
  • Monthly 1:1s and regular calls with your national team or Cluster Head
  • Invitations to Coordinator gatherings, international exchanges, and co-learning spaces
  • A peer group of other Coordinators across Europe
  • Trust, support, and room to shape this role around your strengths
