Kathrin Henneberger
Policy & Advocacy Advisor at Plant-for-the-PlanetKathrin Henneberger is a former member of the German parliament and climate activist who has been committed for many years to environmental and climate protection as well as global justice. Since 2026, she has been working in the Advocacy & Policy team at Plant-for-the-Planet, focusing on Just Transition and climate finance.

Kathrin's commitment to climate justice began in the Rhenish lignite mining region, where she advocated for the phase-out of coal-fired power generation and the preservation of the Hambach Forest—first as an activist, later as a member of the German parliament (Bundestag). During her time in parliament, she helped negotiate, among other things, the legal framework for the coal phase-out, the preservation of five villages at the Garzweiler open-pit mine, Germany’s withdrawal from the Energy Charter Treaty, and increased funding for global climate and biodiversity finance.
